The gate hinges are the tell: Delta’s commercial-grade adjustable hinge (part prefix DGH-) uses a ⅝-inch j-bolt that requires a specific bore depth of 3½ inches; their residential hinge (prefix DGH-R-) uses a ½-inch pin and only needs 2¼ inches.

To identify your Delta hardware, check the inside face of the gate frame for a stamped model number, or measure the post outer diameter with a tape measure, not a ruler. If your existing fence was installed between 2005 and 2015, you may have the Delta Classic line, which used a proprietary latch keeper that Delta discontinued in 2016; we fabricate compatible keepers in our shop rather than trying to source obsolete inventory. Once the substrate is exposed, structural section loss follows in two to three years.
• Hinge squeal that lubrication doesn’t fix. Delta’s nylon bushing wears oval over time, and grease only masks the metal-on-metal contact. The bushing is replaceable separately on commercial hinges, but residential hinges are sealed units; the whole hinge swaps out.
