The Classic series uses 0.080-inch aluminum extrusions with a 3/4-inch frame depth; the Designer series steps up to 0.100-inch wall thickness with a 1-inch frame and a different corner bracket spacing. The Estate series, which we see in Hancock Park and Los Feliz renovations more than anywhere else, uses a proprietary 1.25-inch frame with integrated water deflection channels that don’t interchange with the other two.

To identify your series, check the inside edge of the frame for a stamped code - Classic shows “C-” followed by a two-digit year, Designer shows “D-,” Estate shows “E-.” If the stamp is worn off, measure the frame depth with a tape measure; anything over 1 inch rules out Classic.
