Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover manufactures several vinyl fence series, and the parts are not interchangeable between lines. The most common in Los Angeles are the Lexington privacy series (6-foot height, tongue-and-groove pickets), the Bradford semi-privacy series (alternating picket spacing), and the Huntington picket series (3-4 foot decorative). Each uses a distinct rail profile: Lexington runs a 2-inch by 6-inch top and bottom rail with aluminum reinforcement inserts, Bradford uses a lighter 1.5-inch by 5.5-inch rail without metal, and Huntington uses a single 2-inch by 3-inch top rail with no bottom rail at all.

To identify your series, check the inside face of a post cap for a molded date code and series stamp, or measure the rail height and check for the aluminum insert channel. If the fence was installed before 2015, you may have the older Cover Classic line, which was discontinued in 2018; Classic rails are 1.75-inch profile and won’t lock into current-series brackets. • Picket panels rattle or pull out of the rails. The tongue-and-groove joints in Cover privacy panels depend on a snug friction fit; UV degradation over 8-12 years in Los Angeles sun shrinks the vinyl slightly, and wind gusts work the pickets loose. Individual picket replacement is possible, but once more than 20 percent are loose, full panel replacement is more cost-effective.
• Bottom rail bows or detaches from the post. DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground here. A homeowner can replace post caps, tighten gate hinges with a socket set, or clear debris from the fence line without risk. What we don’t recommend: digging out a concrete-footed post without calling USA North 811 for utility locates, or attempting to tension a sagging gate without understanding how the diagonal brace transfers load.
